THE HUMAN MASK
Short film· 20 minutes · in development
An essay film on the human face: the face as mask,
as landscape, as enigma, as truth or as lie.
A rhapsody in images, inspired by the laughter of
James Ensor's mask-faces and by forgotten faces
found again by chance.
They are no longer here / I’d like to sleep and dream
of them, they who gave me / flesh and memory,
black lifetimes / the hunger of sad brains /
the tired scent of the woods and the lazy glory
of the world.
I shall sleep now and view their tomb.
