THE BOOK OF HOURS
Feature Film / 80 minutes / in production
In The Book of Hours, figures of the present and echoes of the past cross paths in a surreal geography on the edges of a large northern Italian city. A homeless man wandering, three children playing in a cloister, the killing of a pig, the making of a bell: figures and visions intersect like fragments of a calendar.
Several temporal layers overlap — the circularity of nature, of the seasons and of the day; the time of human life and of history, apparently linear yet fed by returns, echoes and survivals.
The poetic word opens a dialogue between the living and the dead, between past and present, between sight and hearing.
A film as a profane breviary for crossing a time in which everything disappears.
